Large Format Photography: Calculating Bellows Extension Factor

Mat Marrash responds to a question regarding bellows factor when shooting Large Format and other bellows cameras.

When focusing a camera with moveable bellows, any extension of the lens beyond it's infinity focusing distance (focal length) will result in the loss of light during the exposure. You can correct this by compensating for the bellows draw, with two easy measurements, and two quick calculations.

This is a very difficult explanation of the extension bellows factors. You talk way to fast, use math many of us don't understand and never really explain if we need to open the lens or close the lens. Slow down, assume very few understand the math and figure out another much easier explanation. thanks,
